Wine-Compass provides a user-friendly interface that is designed to facilitate the average wine consumers knowledge and understanding of the wine industry. To accomplish this goal, Wine-Compass contains product and event information for over 3,400 wineries in the United States and Canada as well as a daily news feed, wine tutorial, and wine forum. Wine-Compass provides several avenues to locate a specific wine or winery. A search engine exists on the home page and in a customized search tab or user';s can search for wineries via a clickable country map of the United States and Canada. After finding a specific winery, the site provides the winery';s events; a MapQuest map, driving directions, and current weather; tasting notes and varietal description for current and library releases; the ability to view and add reviews for a specific wine; and the winery';s contact information. Wine-Compass also provides custom information regarding the wine industry. Consumers can read about or discuss current wine news rends in the Daily Compass or Wine talk forum. In Wine 101, consumers can access a wine Glossary and Varietal dictionary as well as Vitis Labrusca, a section dedicated to improving the wine public';s knowledge and appreciation of native North American species of vine and hybrids.
